During my short stay in Paris, one of my top to do things was to try a French Crepe. All I can say was it was so delicious! The best part about it was that we had our first French crepes from a local stand in front of the Eiffel Tour at 11 pm at night and were able to see the Tour sparkle! It was an amazing experience, one I will definitely not forget. Once I came home I wanted to try to make the crepes just as I had in Paris. For my birthday my husband bought me Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking. I found the perfect recipe for the crepes! It was so soft and yummy. Being Romanian, we have our own version of crepes called Cletite, which have similar texture as the french ones but still quite different. I highly recommend this recipe for all those who love crepes and want to impress your dinner guest!
Winter time always calls for some hot chocolate. Although southern California doesn’t exactly have a winter (weather has been in the 80’s & 70’s), I still crave hot chocolate during this season! I have my usual hot chocolate recipe that is fairly quick but tasty. I will be posting that recipe sometime soon. This recipe that I will be sharing with you is a traditional French recipe. I love French recipes especially after going to Paris this summer, I have been more inspired to try and taste French food and recipes. For christmas this year I got a French cookbook that I have been using and reading a lot! It is called Sweet Paris by Michael Paul. It is a great book, full of amazing photography, short descriptions and wonderful recipes.
This past saturday my sister and I had our first cake order of the new year! Although I love making cakes, i always get stressed out because I want to make sure they it comes out more than amazing. The anticipation of what my client will say about the cake always follows me and it brings much relief when they are happy! I can happily say that the bride to be really liked the cake!
The inside of the cake was a Vanilla Chiffon Cake with vanilla whipped cream and folded in strawberries. It was very tasty, light and airy. It was the kind of cake that has a very light taste to it and tricks you into eating more!
